quick leftover rice dish

Whenever I have cooked a meal with rice I have always have at least one portion leftover and I don’t like wasting food so the next day I nearly always cook this leftover rice dish.

Ingredients

1 portion of cold cooked rice

Leftover meat (this could be leftover roast chicken)

1 finely chopped onion

Fresh Ginger (I use 1tsp of easy ginger)

1 clove of garlic finely chopped ( or 1 tsp of easy garlic)

1/2 tsp of dried crushed chillies

1 egg

Soy sauce (to taste)

Sweet chilli sauce (to taste)

Handful of frozen peas and/or sweet corn

2 tsp vegetable oil (I like sunflower)

Method

1) In a hot wok (or frying pan) add 1 tsp of oil. Add the chopped onion, ginger, garlic and chilli into the wok and stir-fry until onions are softened and then put onto a small plate and put to the side.

2) Add another tsp of oil to the wok and then cook the egg making sure to constantly move around the pan so it looks like scrambled egg.

3) When the egg is just cooked add the cold rice, cooked onions, leftover meat and the peas and sweet corn. Stirfry until peas and sweet corn are warm through.

4) Add the Soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce to taste and stirfry for a further 5mins and then serve in a bowl.

This recipe is really easy and the beauty of it you can add any different vegtables and meats. If you like your food with more of a spicy kick why not add fresh chillies.

I sometimes cook this dish the night before put it in a plastic container and take to work as it microwaves well. This is also good if your craving Chinese food.

Spring/Summer empties

During the end of spring and most of the summer I have been collecting up empties and thought I would show and review these.

Firstly is the end of my Mac mineralize skin finish natural powder and I am so sad that this is gone because it lasted forever and I can't afford to repurchase it at the moment. I used the colour Medium and it set my foundation perfectly and did what it's supposed to and didn't clog up on my face. The texture is light and still covers nicely.

Staying with face products I also used up No7 Beautifully Matte foundation in the colour cool vanilla. I loved this it was thick to cover well and made my usally oily skin nice and matte. I have not brought this particular foundation again as it’s a bit thick for summer also, this foundation only has a SPF 15 and as the UK had a heat wave in July I wanted something with a higher SPF, however will definitely get it again in the winter.

Way back in May I stopped using my Super Extend Extreme mascara by Avon. I didn’t run out but it got that horrible old mascara smell (I don’t think anyone ever runs out of mascara before it smells). While I was using this mascara I liked it however when I started using my new mascara I realised the formula was pretty wet and it smudged a lot when I rubbed my eyes. I really liked the brush half the bristles were long and the others were short this helped a lot when curling my lashes and the brush really separated my lashes without making them look too clumpy and spidery.

Moving on to skin care the beginning of this month I ran out of my simply sensitive toner this is a Simple dupe from Boots. This toner is really refreshing and contains Aloe Vera which is soothing. I have already repurchased this and really like this product.

Also I ran out of my Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream this eye cream is really nice and is really good for brightening dark circles, however I do not like the smell and that goes with most of the Balance Me products I have tried whether this is because it’s a natural product I don’t no. The formula is nice and thick and melts in the skin nicely.

Going onto hair I have gone through a few bottles of everyday shampoo but havent saved them all but I use Alberto Balsam sun kissed raspberry and its very sweet and makes my hair feel nice and clean.

I also ran out of my Big shampoo from Lush I use this once a week to clarify my hair and I love it it takes out all the build up on my hair and makes it feel like it has more volume for the rest of the week. I have already brought this again and will keep buying until I find something I like equally as much.

For conditioner I have ran out of Aussies Mega Instant conditioner I love love love this conditioner it lightly conditions my hair and makes it smell awesome. I havent repurchased this yet as I am using Lush Veganese conditioner but after that has ran out I will be buying again.

I can now finally throw away this stuff and start collecting more yay!!!

Inspirations

I have done alot of reflecting this month as it was a year ago we had to move from our flat and become homeless for 3 and a half months.  Richard and I were going through a tough time to begin with waiting for test results ect.  However, through the bad times there were a few people some close to me and some who wouldn't know I even exsisted that inspired me to look on the bright side an see that it wasn't all bad. Here are 3 that come to mind.

My Grandma Anne is my main inspiration she pretty much made me who I am as stubborn and as fustrating she can be she is amazing.  I have lived with her twice in my life and last year was one of those times and in her way she brought me up and became one of the people who supported me through the difficult time.

My Husband Richard is my rock without him life wouldn't be worth living he is the most loving, dopey, funny, affectionate and intellegent person I no. The way he copes with his socail problems is so awe inspiring and he never fails to make me smile and inspires me everyday to carry on with a smile.

Lastly is someone I have never met or spoke to but I watch her youTube videos and have done for about a year her name is Jen and she has 3 youtube channels (myhousewifelife, busybeebuzz and organised Jen). The videos that inspire me is her daily Vlogs watching her day to day life last year was a very much needed breath of fresh air although we live in different country's and have completely different lives the way she interacts with her family and husband inspires me to be a better person and teaches me to appriciate my family more. And watching her Vlogs inspired me to start this blog. (I'm hoping i am not coming across as a weird stalker)

I hope one day I inspire someone as much as these people inspire me.

July favorites

These favorites are going to be a bit short today as I have not brought anything new and I have been using the same products, however i do have a couple.

First up is somthing that loads of people have raved about but it is good. Its the stay matte powder from Rimmel.  This stuff is amazing it keeps my foundation on and stops my oily skin from being an issue. I got this in the colour natual though I will probably get the transparent one next time as I don't use it for coverage just for setting my foundation.

Next is doll'd up mascara from Seventeen in the colour black this is just about finished with as its starting to get that old mascara smell and going a bit dry, however it's still good. I like the formula its not too thick and the plastic curved wand separates my lashes without making them spidery. I also like it's staying power although its not waterproof it does last the whole day and I rub my eyes constantly and it dosn't smudge.

Lastly (told you this was going to be short) is a lipstick and lipgloss combination.  The lipstick is a Glossy box lipstick called Glossy Pink. This is a very creamy and does have a bit of natural shine but i add a FCUK lipgloss over the top it has slight shimmer in it and makes the colour a little less dull.
